INSIDE AHKINSIDE AHK 3rd dubai Companies Cup F ebruary 28th 2014 marked the day of the 3rd Dubai Companies Cup organized by the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce AHK this time held at Dubai Sports City The sporting event served as an ideal opportunity to bring together not only German but also international and local companies in order to strengthen cross cultural understanding as well as developing teamwork and team spirit in a relaxed and fun atmosphere For the first time in Sports City the 3rd Dubai Companies Cup kicked off in the morning with the opening ceremony after which around 380 athletes grouped in 39 teams geared up to take part in 7 different challenges with the aim of winning the cup for their company The idea behind the event is to create a unique networking platform outside the hustle and bustle of daily working life giving companies and employees the chance to interact in a stress free environment The fantastic atmosphere on the day showed that the mission was successfully accomplished with fans loyally supporting the participants in the different categories soccer fitness challenge car rally obstacle race wall climbing rope pulling and table soccer The diversity of disciplines presented the perfect occasion for the athletes to demonstrate their physical talents as well as keeping their colleagues families and friends entertained throughout the day Keeping up with technology an app was available to download created by Consol Mena enabling participants and spectators to follow the starting times of all athletes Mercedes Benz Gargash Enterprises offered test drives with their latest models Bayer and Tom Tailor gave away gifts and the kids were entertained by Winnie the Pooh balloon bending and bull riding Like every year Medwin Medical Centre provided the first aid and medical support The event served as a perfect example showing how sport connects people in a unique way bringing out the sportsmanship spirit as well as competitiveness creating a sense of camaraderie amongst not only the athletes but also the fans and spectators The Cup winners were happy to receive tickets from Etihad Airways airberlin the silver medal winners got vouchers sponsored by PUMA worth 1000 AED each and the athletes in third place won Mercedes test drives All winners of the single challenges earned prizes given by our sponsors and supporters without whom it wouldn t have been possible to run the event A big thank you goes out to all generous sponsors and supporters Dubai Sports City Etihad Airways airberlin Puma Mercedes Benz Gargash Tom Tailor Continental serviceplan Consol Mena Bayer Adventure HQ Detour Medwin and Original Fitness and to the team of helpers n Andrea werner Head of Special Events at German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce AHK Dubai 30 ISSUE 12 MAJLIs
