T raditionally businesses in the Arabic world do not function without any personal contact between the cooperating business partners A very important part of building relationships is a MAJLIS which is a place to get together and a great platform to exchange information In 2011 the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce AHK had the idea of connecting selected German as well as Arabic business people in an Arab German MAJLIS The new feature of this event was that it did not take place in the Gulf region as usual but in Germany Munich This exclusive closed Match Making event offers a platform for establishing new contacts conducting new business strengthening existing relationships as well as projects of important business people of both cultures In 2012 four Majlis events were held in Munich Berlin and Frankfurt This August the 6th and 7th Arab German Majlis events took place in Mainz and Berlin focusing on the medical industry They were characterized as a platform for further strengthening and enhancing business relationships and for exploring and establishing new business opportunities between both regions Like all AHK Majlis events they were Arab German Medical Pharmacy Majlis The event took place at the Hyatt Hotel in Mainz the capital of Rhineland Palatinate The program started with a city tour organized by the Centre for Research on the Arab World of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz CERAW The guests had the opportunity to explore the cultural and historical side of Mainz In the afternoon the program of the Majlis event started starting point for discussions While enjoying a delicious Arab German buffet the guests took advantage of further networking opportunities until late evening In the morning of the following day the participants were invited by BASF to an exclusive and very impressive tour through their headquarters in Ludwigshafen the largest chemical manufacturing site in the world followed by a get together In the afternoon the group was picked up by Premium Drive Shuttle and arrived at their accommodation the Hilton Hotel Düsseldorf The metropolitan region of Rhineland around Düsseldorf Cologne and Bonn is one of the leading medical destinations in Germany The next day Mrs Olga Heine of the Heinrich Heine University Hospital in Düsseldorf welcomed the guests before they were given an extensive site inspection of a maximum medical care sector hospital in the Rhineland Region After being invited by the Health Destination Rhineland initiative to a common lunch at a traditional restaurant called Schiffchen in the Old Town of Düsseldorf a professional tourist guide sponsored by the Düsseldorf Marketing Tourism Board invited the Majlis participants to a guided after lunch walk across the Old Town of Düsseldorf As the last point of the program the guests were given the chance to visit Airport City Mrs Birgit Stegemann introduced them to the Radprax Prevention Institute which is mainly specialized in preventive check ups and the diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular diseases The site inspection was continued at Diadentis where Dr Stefan Schmid dentist and implantologist invited them to an interactive and highly informative insight into particular treatment opportunities in his practice A very insightful inspiring and exciting day in Düsseldorf went by and it s certain that the Health Destination Rhineland is worth another visit BERLIN In the capital of Germany Berlin the second Majlis of the Medical and Pharmacy sector took place in the hotel Waldorf Astoria in the
