6 Welcome come to leipzig capital of song in the merry month of May for over a week of musical treats pre sented by exceptional vocal ensembles from all over the world Yes it s time for the sixteenth annual a cappella festival and 2015 s line up will feature superb artists arriving from not just Paris and Oslo but as far afield as Johannesburg and Beijing On the menu will be exciting musical excursions graceful Re naissance music unfamiliar yet phenomenal sounds moods of pure romance and exotic joie de vivre in credible improvisation and much more besides all produced with the mouth and nothing but the mouth In 2015 two spectacular groups from china and South africa will be appearing for the first time at a cappella the DONg SINgERS and LADySmITh bLAcK mAmbAzO The two concerts by the 2014 contest winners will fea ture SjAELLA from leipzig and Berlin band DELTA Q Two of France s leading exponents of early music ENSEmbLE cLémENT jANEQuIN and DIAbOLuS IN muSIcA will perform together at a concert dedicated to the composer Jean Mou ton From the far north puST will delight us with a brace of shows for young and old alike while nea politan mARcO bEASLEy will create a fascinating dear a cappella Fans dear audience latenight listening experience Franco croatian ENSEmbLE DIALOgOS will take us on a re markable musical journey back to bygone times and ONAIR an up and coming young sextet from Berlin will be presenting some of their self penned songs oozing cool and sophistication The competition jury headed by Simon carrington from the uK is just as excited about the forthcoming contest as we are It always promises to be an exhila rating affair and once more attracted a raft of hungry talented young ensembles This time we ve decided to expand the usual programme of special events The various lectures and introductory interviews with performers and academ ics will be a fascinating source of additional infor mation about singing genres and stylistics and also tell us much about the human voice in both medical and psychological terms We hope we ve whetted your appetite and that you ll sample some of the delicacies on offer ENjOy AmARcORD
