R avinder Sethi never really wanted to work in the logistics industry I had a master s degree in business eco nomics says the managing director of R E Rogers India My original goal was to get a PhD and become a professor He then opted for a job as marketing manager with a private multinational company How ever before seriously starting his career he wanted an easy job just to have a bit of fun for a few months Ravinder Sethi landed in a travel tour agency with a freight department that transported numerous exhibition goods from Eastern Europe It was 1 October 1977 he recalls From this day onward I was gripped by exhibition logistics fever Six years later Ravinder Sethi worked for a company that became the agent of R E Rogers UK The British logistics firm handled orders for some events of Cahners now Reed on the subcontinent In early 1986 global customers put the UK firm under pres sure to operate under its own brand name in India as well However at this time foreign capital investments in the services sector were against the law in India That is why R E Rogers UK entrusted me with the brand and we started doing business says Ravin der Sethi Together with my wife Kiran a textile designer I founded R E Rogers India as an independent company The Indian logistics sector has changed radically since then The sector was virtual ly non existent at the beginning compares Ravinder Sethi A lot of things were done on an informal basis the infrastructure was out dated and the workforce was often un skilled At present the sector in India meets at least global standards says the logistics veteran He is happy with his company s suc cessful quality environment health and oc cupational safety management Ravinder Sethi looks back at several milestones R E Rogers India has achieved with satisfaction We have successfully implemented the most challenging projects in India They include Asia s premier air show Aero India staged in the hangars of an air force base Another ex ample is the organisation of the building technology fair bC India in a greenfield site And handling the logistics of the Formula One race every year is also a huge task Ravinder Sethi himself has held impor tant positions in the international associa tions UFI and IELA as well as in the na tional trade fair association IEIA The associ ations also have a role to play in Rogers thir tieth anniversary With twelve attendees the company will account for the largest delega tion at the IELA Congress for the fourth time running when the event comes to Dublin next June In addition Rogers sponsors im portant activities there R E Rogers India had previously been the main sponsor at the UFI CEO Forum in Munich Moreover we will attend the open seminar of our national association in Bangalore at the end of May An awareness campaign demonstrating the Rogers Family s contribution to the company s success in the logis tics industry will be a major factor of the events And later in the year there will be an unforgettable thank you party for customers partners family and friends www rogersworld wideindia com PB 34 TradeFairs Internation al 2 2016 INTERNATIONAL INDIA Three decades with the Rogers Family In 2016 India s leading logistics provider celebrates its thirtieth anniversary A good opportunity to celebrate and look back at its beginnings Kiran und Ravinder Sethi Beide gründeten R E Rogers India als unabhängiges Unternehmen Kiran and Ravinder Sethi The two partners founded R E Rogers India as an inde pendent company Ph ot o U FI
