TradeFairs Internation al 3 2022 I n Singapore the latest figures are indica tors of this upturn In 2022 the number of hosted events will see a huge increase over the previous year A full recovery of the industry is expected by 2025 at the latest Singapore Tourism Board STB is riding on that momentum by launching an enhanced incentive programme for international MICE groups named Inspire Global 2 0 which aims to support the positive trend The business community is eager for opportuni ties to meet and network in person again says Yap Chin Siang STB s deputy chief ex ecutive This desire puts the industry in good stead to recover strongly The Inspire Global 2 0 programme offers free attractions for qualified MICE groups They range from dining experiences to thematic tours and team building Yap Chin Siang sees the easing of border restrictions as another reason for an opti mistic outlook This includes the relaxation of other Covid 19 measures such as the re moval of group size and event capacity lim its Since April there have been no testing and quarantine requirements for vaccinated visitors which makes everything much more convenient For example Cosmoprof Asia 2022 beauty fair 16 18 November has relo cated to Singapore due to constraints at its traditional Hong Kong location The second half of the year will also be marked by sever al prestigious international events The food and beverages edition of Food and Hotel Asia FHA took place in early September In late October there will be another edition of FHA dedicated to the hotel restaurant and catering sector A total of 60 000 visitors are expected to attend the two events in Sin gapore and the industries represented are likely to benefit from growing demand Increasing efforts to make events more sustainable are also fuelling growth A new white paper released by STB and American Express Global Business Travel looks at key trends of green meetings and events The study which was also recently presented at IMEX in Frankfurt shows that organisers en courage travellers to practice ecologically re sponsible behaviours Important factors for this include the choice of energy efficient ho tels and event venues as well as the prioriti sation of routes with the smallest carbon footprint It is also important to reduce the frequency of travel If vehicles are used it seems advisable to prioritise electric vehicles over hybrid or conventional cars Otherwise public transport is to be prioritised as far as possible Flights using sustainable aviation fuel are to be given preference as are sus tainable food options Plus Emissions are to be offset by investing in environmental proj ects The white paper offers advice on how planners can make their events even more cli mate friendly These practical tips as well as certifications help make sustainability efforts a reality in the city state The Singapore Green Plan 2030 stands for this sustainabili ty journey The plan is underscored not least by Singapore s hosting of sustainability events www visitsingapore com mice PB INTERNATIONAL SINGAPORE Seizing the opportunity In the city state the events industry is set to post a strong recovery after the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions Sustainability efforts are another growth driver Yap Chin Siang stellte auf der IMEX 2022 in Frankfurt das grüne White Paper von STB und American Express Global Business Travel vor Yap Chin Siang presented the green white paper by STB and American Ex press Global Business Travel at IMEX 2022 in Frankfurt Ph ot o S TB
