P ublic transport is increasingly going digital This is due to a growing need for individuality and comfort among passengers and because the means of transport are becoming ever more diverse and networked IT Trans at Messe Karlsruhe sees itself as the world s leading conference and trade fair dedicated to digitally net worked urban mobility At its seventh edi tion from 3 to 5 March some 270 exhibitors will showcase their soft ware solutions and mobility services The event will focus on their user friendly integration into public trans port systems Here customised transport options with centrally bookable transport combinations are suggested to individual users IT Trans is the global industry get to gether for public transport decision makers explains project manager Jochen Georg They range from workshop operational and IT man agers to the top echelons of public transport companies opinion leaders and digitisation experts he de scribes the attendee structure A new addition to IT Trans 2020 is the Future Mobility Lab Among other things a control room will be set up to simulate how electric and autonomous vehicles are integrated into a transport system Staged alongside the trade fair the conference will offer opportunities for discussions among trade visitors exhibitors and opinion leaders of the industry The three day IT Trans con ference deals with aspects such as the use of artificial intelligence in public transport Ad vances in the field of autonomous vehicles and possible ways of increasing customer loyalty will be on the agenda Other key top ics include on demand mobility services as well as data ownership and governance Around 150 speakers will share their experi ences and visions across 30 different ses sions Not only the speakers but also the audience of IT Trans will be international At the most recent event in 2018 visitors from all continents were represented There was a marked growth in the number of partici pants from the Middle East Africa and Aus tralia with one in seven of the approximate ly 4 400 visitors coming from outside Europe www it trans org Geotherm will be held at Messe Offen burg Ortenau on 5 and 6 March It is regard ed as Europe s largest trade show and con gress for geothermal energy 200 exhibitors and more than 3 600 visitors from 48 na tions registered for the past edition Every year the national and international geother mal energy network showcases the industry at Messe Offenburg say the organisers The conference cum fair focuses both on deep and shallow geothermal energy Both con ference threads are already included in the entrance fee and can be combined individu ally by the visitors There will be 40 lectures discussing the latest topics and issues One of the speakers featured on the first day of the congress is Professor Frieder Häfner of TU Bergakademie Freiberg His lecture will be dedicated to planning and economic effi ciency of geothermal heat generation from unused wells Germany has thousands of deep wells especially in the North German Basin They were mainly created for geolog ical exploration and the production of oil and gas Hundreds of these are still suitable for geothermal use and potential thermal heat recovery Due to the strong international atten dance all lectures will be simultaneously translated into German English and French Plus For the fourth time in a row there will be an international symposium in the Ober rheinhalle at the exhibition centre The sym posium is being organised by the Internation al Energy Agency together with Messe Offen burg After Latin America Asia and the Baltic Sea this year s North Atlantic Symposium will focus on the states bordering the North Atlantic ocean Participants will have the op portunity to exchange information on current activities experiences and projects in nine countries surrounding the North Atlantic The conference language of the symposium will be English For the first time the sympo sium will take place during Geotherm instead of on the previous day as in the past www geotherm germany com PB 30 FOCUS TradeFairs Internation al 1 2020 GERMANY International niche meetings In early March two major congresses with trade fairs will take place in two southern German cities Karlsruhe and Offenburg Both IT Trans and Geotherm are dedicated to future forward topics Teilnehmer aus fast 50 Nationen Die Geotherm gilt als Europas größte Geothermie Fachmesse mit Kongress Attendees from almost 50 nations Geotherm is regarded as Europe s largest trade show and congress for geothermal energy Ph ot o M es se O ffe nb ur g B ra xa rt
