A new era is dawning for the subconti nent s exhibition industry The first construction phase of India Interna tional Convention Expo Centre or IICC in Dwarka South West Delhi will be completed in 2020 Stage one comprises 60 000 square metres of indoor exhibition space in two large halls that can be divided into eight And a huge conference hall of the same size will be built before that The sec ond stage will comprise an additional 180 000 square metres in three huge divisi ble halls plus a 60 000 square metre foyer More than two months ago the decision was made to go forward and select a new opera tion manager A Korean consortium consist ing of site operator Kintex and organiser eSang beat the leading international compe tition Kinexin Convention Management the name of the new company will operate the centre for 20 years Our USP is that we specialise both in venue operation and organising trade shows and conventions says Kinexin s new man aging director Phil Chung Chung also reiter ates the views of Kintex president and for mer deputy prime minister of Korea Chang Yuel Lim He firmly believes that Kintex Kinexin is different from the private sector We are not just pursuing profit says Chung We seek far beyond that he points out that ties between Korea and India will be strengthened as a result of operating the IICC Several Korean ministries are examin ing opportunities to do something with us al ready not to mention the Indian govern ment points out Phil Chung who was for merly senior director of Kintex As Korea s largest international trade show venue Kintex has a wide global net work which will help IICC adds Chung In terestingly Kintex current executive vice president Hyo Choon Yoon is an expert on India having lived and worked there for sev eral years as an executive of the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency Kotra So the operator has great intercultural expertise and good contacts We re now discussing with numerous global business partners as well as Korean and Indian companies about possible business opportunities starting from 2020 says Phil Chung Global organisers are planning to geo clone their shows and the progress will become faster as we create a wonderful venue Kinexin s managing director expects many Korean Japanese and Chinese organ isers to present new international shows In dia being the most promising Asian market of the future Its attractiveness ought to be further enhanced by the infrastructure The IICC will be close to two metro stations and just a few minutes drive from Indira Gand hi International Airport Shopping malls en tertainment centres and eight deluxe hotels with 35 000 rooms will provide great ameni ties Kintex success story in Korea is obvi ously set to continue in India www kin tex com PB 42 TradeFairs Internation al 3 2018 INTERNATIONAL INDIA KOREA Dawn of a new era India s trade fair industry is moving forward The IICC will be the country s largest exhibition and convention centre Its operator will be a Korean consortium led by Kintex Bald wahr werdende Vision So stellen sich die Planer das lebendige Veranstaltungsgeschehen im IICC vor A vision that will soon become reality This is how planners imagine future events at the IICC Ph ot o II CC
