GREAT SHOW STRONG CREW When your show starts we have already fi nished With the full range of freight transportation services we deliver your exhibition goods and event equipment around the globe At the right time at the right place and at competitive rates No matter whether it is big and bulky or small and sensitive Challenge us now DHL Global Forwarding Freight Excellence Simply delivered UGF HFSNBOZ EIM DPN W hen order books are bulging it puts staff under great physical and mental pressure In the last few months we have handled many mammoth exhibition projects in India at al most the same time reports Ravinder Sethi managing director of R E Rogers India The leading Indian trade fair logistics company has been involved in Auto Expo Elecrama Imtex India Wood and Defexpo So we have had our hands very very full in the ear ly part of the year says Sethi emphasising the point The most unique and surely one of the most challenging projects in our histo ry was Defexpo 2018 which was organised by the Ministry of Defence This biannual show was held in mid April in temporary structures just outside Chennai a city with a population of several million in south east In dia The R E Rogers India team had many challenges to overcome the first being that the dates and venue were not finalised until a very late stage So the moment we were officially appointed everything for us was on a war footing says Sethi spelling out the extent of the challenge The show site in particular kept him and his team very busy The site was barren land on which tempo rary halls had to be constructed explains Sethi Moreover the site was on the coast so the first task was to level the ground with hard material to provide a stable base for the temporary structures Our cranes forklifts and trucks were getting stuck in the sand and sometimes had to get towed using other equipment in order to complete on site oper ations he continues Temporary structures had to be built for a warehouse an on site office and customs offices as well One of the most difficult and costly tasks was yet to come We had to put the customs apparatus in place on site ex TRADE FAIR LOGISTICS Juggling mammoth projects Where there is no infrastructure it has to be put in place which costs time and effort Plenty of good research needs to be done in advance as R E Rogers India demonstrated for Defexpo 2018 PRACTICE
