T he Imex Group is taking a new ap  proach to its education and content strategies  An annual  talking point  will be launched at the upcoming show  This will allow the company to re  spond more dynamically to rising trends and issues within the international meetings  events and incentive travel industry  The 2017 Imex talking point is  Purposeful Meet  ings  How to plan with deeper meaning  innovation and insight in mind   It will be featured in all ini  tiatives and in the flanking com  munication  But other contents won t be neglected on the agenda   Our annual talking point will give our education programme a direc  tion   says Carina Bauer  CEO of the Imex Group   That said  each annual talking point won t domi  nate education content or industry debate   One aim of the organisers is to adapt the learning and networking opportunities provided by the show to the new challenges of the market   We have to keep ahead of industry trends   affirms Carina Bauer   and keep talking to all our visitors and exhibitors to discover their problems and needs   In this way she wants to help the target groups find the right solutions  This stronger focus will significant  ly enhance the value of the educa  tion programme in future  claim the organisers   especially  when we focus on a major trend and highlight this trend from different angles    The current theme    Purposeful Meet  ings    reflects an imperative which meet  ings planners are already being asked to ad  dress today   There is a shift towards the in  tentional planning and creation of  memo  rable moments  not meetings  and  experi  ences  not events   says Carina Bauer   This is what purposeful meetings do   argues the CEO   they are engaging  inspiring and en  joyable with long lasting positive outcomes   They achieve these outcomes by prioritising certain aspects in a MICE event  which she lists as follows   behavioural science  meet  ing design  health   wellbeing  leaving a pos  itive legacy and  of course  technology   To back up its commitment  the Imex Group has already formed several partnerships with leading industry specialists    EduMonday  on 15 May  the day before the show  is another new education experi  ence  The entire day will be dedicated to ed  ucation  The free programme is divided into five tracks  with workshops and seminars on hot industry topics   such as event design and event technology  The popular Associa  tion Day will also take place the day before Imex  aiming to provide association profes  sionals with valuable expert knowledge  The event features a new  completely redesigned programme for 2017 consisting of two streams  a Management Stream covering top  ics such as why members leave and how to persuade them to stay  as well as a Meetings   Events Stream addressing operational is  sues such as how to maximise member par  ticipation at events and how to identify and approach new sponsors  Dedicated to corporate event planners  Exclusively Corporate  Imex has also been redeveloped and brought up to date  It will focus on topics such as ROI  creative event formats  new technologies  security risks and emerging destinations  After a series of group sessions the tie in event will be split into two streams   one for senior event professionals and the other on operational issues for event managers  But the most important thing at a fair are exhibitors and buyers  as can be seen in Frankfurt again soon  Generously includ  ing all sub exhibitors featured at the stands  around 3 500 suppliers will come together with around 10 000 visitors in Hall 8 this year  www imex frankfurt de               PB 12 FOCUS TradeFairs Internation al 2 2017 IMEX   CONGRESSES Focus on a talking point From 16 to 18 May Imex  the international MICE fair  will be opening its gates again in Frankfurt  This time with a revamped programme  Beim Verbändetag am Vortag der Imex gibt es Gelegenheit zum Netzwerken  The Association Day on the day before Imex will offer networking opportunities  Ph ot o   Im ex
