28 EDUCATION   TRAINING Milestones of German Dual  Vocational Training in Malaysia As technology advances globally  employers in the industry find it  increasingly difficult to hire skilled workers to match their demand   The situation in Malaysia is no exception  To cater to these  demands  the German Dual Vocational Training  GDVT   based on  the German TVET system of 75  On The Job and 25  vocational  school training was initiated in Malaysia in June 2014 by MGCC   in close cooperation with the Department of Skills Development   JPK  under the Ministry of Human Resources  the German  Malaysian Institute and various German companies   like Infineon   Bosch or DB Schenker among others   operating in Malaysia   Through this collaboration and set up trainees will be able to  receive an AHK Certificate and a Malaysian Skills Advanced  Diploma  NOSS 5  upon graduation  The first two training programmes to start were Industrial  Management and Logistic Operations Management  based on the  respective German framework regulations and curricula and  mapped to the equivalent National Occupational Skills Standard  in Malaysia  Around 15 companies took in an overall of 30 trainees  in the last two years and a new intake will follow in May 2017  The  first batch of trainees have already written their first intermediate  exam and is currently preparing for their Final Year Project and for  the final examination In May 2017   Even more in need of skilled workers than the commercial based  industry is the production and manufacturing industry  Therefore   the Mechatronics Training was launched in September 2015 in  Penang  BBraun  Inari und Osram were the first training companies  taking in a first batch of overall 22 trainees  while the Penang Skills  Development Center is taking the role as the vocational institute  in Penang  Other Penang based companies like Southern Steel  and Bosch followed suit within the last year  Continuous intakes  are planned for the coming years and advances in planning a new  Training in Electronics  to start in 2017 in Penang  are being made   Meanwhile  the Mechatronics Training has also been launched in  Kuala Lumpur  again with GMI as the theory training provider and  Infineon  Hauni and Muehlbauer as the first training companies  for 18 trainees   To ensure the quality of the training and to prepare coaches in the  training companies for their responsible roles of guiding young  people into their work life  MGCC has offered a very successful  first Train the Trainer Workshop  based on the German model   Ausbildung der Ausbilder  AdA    for the GDVT coaches  More  workshops will follow in the future  Launching of Mechatronics in KL 2016  MoU between FMSDC and MGCC  MoU signing between MGCC and PEMANDU  AdA Workshop in Malaysia
