In its mission statement Austrian Standards commits to the principles of corporate social responsibility and now reports facts and figures on sustainability already for the sixth time The information provided below covers both the Austrian Standards Institute and Austrian Standards plus GmbH OUR EMPLOYEES As per 31 December 2015 a total of 123 employees worked at Austrian Standards Additionally three persons were on maternity protection leave or parental leave The number of active employees corresponds to 113 15 full time equivalents For service providers highly qualified employees are the most important asset in rendering optimum services to customers and partners There fore Austrian Standards continuously invests in education and training COMMITTEE AND OTHER MEETINGS In 2015 2 224 meetings were held at Austrian Standards to develop standards not only by 166 national committees and their 61 technical subcommittees ÖVE and 302 working groups but also by European and international bodies that convened in Vienna ENERGY EFFICIENCY The environmental management system of Austrian Standards aims at using resources efficiently and strives to ensure that suppliers also orientate their processes to the requirements of the sustainability standards ISO 14001 and or EMAS In 2015 electricity consumption slightly rose while heating energy consumption again decreased as in previous years FOCUS ON DIGITAL SALES The trend towards electronic formats also continued in 2015 More and more standards and other normative documents are conve niently purchased online in the Webshop of Austrian Standards which is also true for technical literature The number of publi cations downloaded has almost tripled since 2010 OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH Every year thousands of people from all over the world visit Austrian Standards to attend committee and working group meetings seminars and other events The safety of these guests as well as of Austrian Standards employees is of top priority The relevant actions taken include regular inspections of safety relevant equipment escape routes and first aid facilities as well as the continuous training of fire pickets and first aiders Of course the Austrian Standards Meeting Center is accessible without barriers Since 2012 Austrian Standards has held a certificate according to OSHAS 18001 on occupational safety and health Within the frame work of health promotion the Management supported for example a presentation on A healthy diet Fit to work during the cold season 50 participants two in house Back fitness courses information events on smoking and vaccinations voluntary influenza vaccinations in house massage service used by 18 persons on average 27 2015 Sustainability Report
