Chicago and CIMT Beijing Big Sight needs more space in order to be able to handle more exhibitors and the venue is being extended not just for the sake of Jimtof but also with a view to the Olympic Games in 2020 www bigsight jp english The 80 000 square me tres currently available are booked out for every Jimtof For the next event from 17 to 22 November 2016 an increase in capacity of around 20 percent has been planned re ports Japan and trade fair expert Heinz Kuhlmann president of ABC Enterprises in Tokyo Big Sight expects to fill all the avail able space Kuhlmann who has been involved in the Japanese trade fair industry for over 40 years is organising the Organic Lifestyle Ex po together with Japanese partners this au tumn The event is being held in Tokyo on 18 and 19 November There was already an ac tive organic movement under way in Japan 15 years ago recalls Kuhlmann Many peo ple forecast rapid growth in Japan and talked of it as having the potential to become the world s third largest organic market But the market developed much more slowly than in the West and some other Asian countries Since 2015 however supported by govern ment agencies associations manufacturers the retain industry and consumers it has fi nally started to emerge from its niche status That was an important prerequisite for the planning of the Organic Lifestyle Expo em phasises Kuhlmann The project is supported by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture Added to that there is also sponsorship money from large retail chains enthuses Kuhlmann That means we are financially secure which is always a chal lenge for a first time event He fully expects the first Organic Lifestyle Expo to be a success Almost all the available indoor and outdoor space was booked out by the time registrations closed on 15 July www ofj or jp PB 87TradeFairs Internation al 5 2016 INTERNATIONAL
