S o far the terrorist attack in Bangkok has not seriously shaken the Thai MICE business No planned events were cancelled or postponed immedi ately thereafter for the period mid August to the end of October In order for this to re main so the TCEB and its President Noppa rat Maythaveekulchai have announced six immediate measures for the same period in the short term Organisers and participants will receive practical assistance if their event is officially supported by TCEB The first measure provides for a faster transfer of MICE visitors from the plane to the entry checkpoint at Suvarnabhumi airport And The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bu reau has its own TCEB counter in the depar ture hall at Bangkok s aviation hub As a sec ond immediate action delegates can address their questions to the staff here around the clock The third measure is to provide MICE op erators with up to date information about the current situation Fourth there is the option of a police escort for the transfer from airport to hotel In this way the factors of safety and convenience are combined Events with at least 200 participants or those attended by VIPs qualify for this benefit which is linked to the fifth TCEB measure If MICE organisers want to protect important people they also receive help two security guards are paid per hundred business travellers However re sources are limited for both latter measures as there are financial limits As a sixth meas ure in urgent cases extra security may be applied for Overall the Thai MICE industry is cur rently on the upswing The first three quar ters of the current fiscal year were very suc cessful This is demonstrated by the trend in event attendance It has grown positively ris ing to about 726 000 for the first nine months An increase of approximately eight percent compared with the previous year In many Asian countries especially but also in the USA Thailand is regarded as an attractive MICE destination Attendance is likely to ex ceed the one million mark by the end of the year Given the upward trend the cash regis ters of hoteliers restaurant operators and re tailers will ring merrily Event business trav ellers from around the world thus contribute in no small measure to Thai net product www businesseventsthailand com PB 68 TradeFairs Internation al 5 2015 INTERNATIONAL THAILAND Six measures for trust On 17 August a bomb attack shook the capital Now the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau TCEB is doing everything to fight the feeling of anxiety Successful premiere for Bevtec Asia In early May 2015 the time had come The beverage technology show Bevtec Asia cel ebrated its successful premiere in Bangkok s BITEC Exhibition Centre Among the 150 exhibitors from 24 countries were well known companies such as Bühler Kro nes Sidel or Veolia They showed cus tomers their innovative solutions Many of the regional trade visitors were able to wit ness novel methods of beverage produc tion Up to now this had never been seen before in this extent in Southeast Asia The exhibition was dedicated to the entire process chain from research and ingredi ents to production bottling and market ing The event was jointly organised by Messe Dusseldorf Asia with Asian Exhibi tion Services In the future Bevtec Asia will be held every two years in Bangkok With the launch of the ASEAN Economic Com munity AEC other Southeast Asian mar kets can be more easily reached from Thai land The exhibition was accompanied by a conference programme featuring well known associations and speakers among the latter the president of Coca Cola Thai land mda messe dusseldorf com TCEB Präsident Nopparat Maythaveekulchai l freut sich über steigende MICE Teilnehmerzahlen TCEB President Nopparat Maythaveekulchai l is happy about rising MICE attendance Ph ot o T C EB
