A t the plastics and rubber trade fair K 2019 in Düsseldorf a series of huge polygynous fabric forms attracted the eye in Hall 15 Blue fabric structures rose above the heads of visitors to the stand eight metres high and reaching almost to the hall s ceiling with a span of up to 20 metres The aim was to attract attention and make a significant impression KraussMaffei was repositioning its own brand and had a trade fair slogan for the purpose Pioneering Plas tics The Munich based mechanical engi neering company is the world s only manu facturer of turnkey injection moulding ma chinery extrusion technology and reaction process machinery At a stand of around 1 800 square metres with two two storey sec tions KraussMaffei presented itself with a discreetly reworked corporate design Adjust ments to the shades of blue and a striking new shade of orange lent it a fresh new look Under the large polygynous fabric forms the visitors entered the different sections of the stand on the circular economy lightweight construction and digitalisation There they learned about technologies such as those used in modern recycling processes The stand s architecture certainly made quite an impression Fabric coverings have not previously been used on this scale and are really something special They were the work of German Print Group one of Ger many s leading large format printers Unlike its competitors the Koblenz based company offers large scale fabric printing aluminium frame construction design manufacture and assembly from a single source We use the latest technology for design sawing bending and of course printing says Daniel Guten dorf managing director of German Print Group At its in company fabric production facility the company makes all its fabric graphics with millimetre precision The fab ric covers are stretched over the specially manufactured aluminium profile systems These are formed into almost completely free structures internally by means of CNC bend ing technology Our systems do not impose the design in advance They give expression to creative ideas explains Gutendorf The creative ideas in this case came from Mac a company based in Langenlonsheim that specialises in trade fairs and was also re sponsible for designing and assembling the stand But for an exhibition stand of this type and size teamwork is required starting with virtual reality KraussMaffei the archi tects at Mac and German Print Group worked together initially to produce a 3D rendering of the ambitious stand design In addition to taking care of purely technical implementa tion Mac also coordinated the activities of those handling the lighting and rigging steel work stand construction and fabric fitting In addition the trade fair experts helped the exhibitor to set up its machinery logistically and technically on a tight schedule The re sult speaks for itself a successful premiere for the new brand which sets itself apart from the competition in terms of both design and quality empha sises Mac team manager Alexan der Ody And referring to the structures and printing of German Print Group he says The special fabric designs of GPG have been setting standards for years But this stand was without doubt a highlight for us as well as for the exhibitor and the visitors www gpg de JK 52 TradeFairs Internation al 4 2019 STAND CONSTRUCTION DESIGN Super sized fabric structures For large companies seeking to reposition themselves in contemporary style both sheer size and a modern look are required That s a case for the German Print Group PRACTICE Auf rund 1 800 Quadrat metern Grundfläche plus zwei Doppelgeschossen präsentierte sich Krauss Maffei in Düsseldorf KraussMaffei presented itself in Düsseldorf on a space of 1 800 square metres plus two double deckers Ph ot o G PG M ac
