B y 2020 business events are expected to contribute MYR 3 9 billion EUR 840 million to Malaysia s gross na tional income GNI creating 16 720 jobs and attracting 2 9 million delegates who will spend money In addition MyCEB al ready mapped out the way forward for busi ness events back in 2016 Charting Malaysia s Journey to 2020 and Beyond This roadmap sets up and manages plat forms for collaboration and supports the de velopment of strong local hosts These efforts have paid off From 2010 to 2018 MyCEB to gether with its industry partners secured around 1 100 international business events These included international conferences corporate events incentives and trade fairs The economic impact of these events was worth over EUR 1 8 billion Last year alone MyCEB won 152 events which are estimated to attract around 119 000 international visitors to Malaysia This trend continued seamlessly in the first half of 2019 with 61 000 international dele gates expected to partake in 75 additional se cured events MyCEB supported a total of 241 events with around 150 000 internation al guests Important events included Malaysia International Jewellery Fair MIJF Malaysia International Halal Showcase Mi has the International Beauty Expo IBE and the Malaysian International Food and Beverage Trade Fair MIFB Plus the DRT Show Malaysia Metaltech and Oil Gas Asia OGA A total of almost 130 000 visi tors attended these seven important events The inaugural 5 in 1 Power Energy Series featuring Powergen Asia and four other events took centre stage in Ma laysia s largest exhibition space MITEC at the beginning of Sep tember Its focus reflects the country s importance in the power and energy generation in dustry The conference and ex hibition attracted around 11 000 professionals approximately 11 000 professionals whereby almost 2 800 visitors came from abroad To ensure a favourable fur ther development of Malaysia s trade fair business MyCEB is participating in Expo Expo in Las Vegas this December At the flagship event of the International Association of Ex hibitions Events IAEE its aim is to pro mote Malaysia s business events products and services targeting US based exhibition and event organisers Nothing will be left to chance The Malaysian delegation will be spearheaded by Datuk Zulkefli Hj Sharif the CEO of MyCEB armed with over 30 pre set appointments with organisers from the North American market ready to stage their next event in Malaysia In addition to the actual exhibition presence there will also be a re ception to pursue the networking concept MyCEB expects to welcome up to 100 suppli ers and US organisers who produce or are looking to produce exhibitions outside the United States at this event This is seen as a very encouraging indication that Malaysia is gaining confidence in the long haul North American market At home the MyCEB also has its own flagship event Malaysia Business Events Week MBEW with a focus on creative learn ing and professional education MBEW is to be enhanced by new features in 2020 This will help Malaysia s business events industry achieve its pivotal goals to compete effec tively in the international arena and to play a paramount role in the country s economic progress www myceb com my PB 44 TradeFairs Internation al 3 2019 INTERNATIONAL MALAYSIA Towards 2020 and beyond Almost ten years ago the Malaysia Convention Exhibition Bureau MyCEB was given a critical role in establishing Malaysia as a leading business events destination Gute Aussichten Datuk Zulkefli Hj Sharif CEO des MyCEB erwartet weitere ausländische Messeaktivitäten in Malaysia Datuk Zulkefli Hj Sharif CEO of MyCEB expects further inter national trade fair activities in Malaysia Ph ot o M yC EB
