920 YEARS OF TFI TradeFairs Internation al 2 2018 Germany is one of the world s largest exporters Trade shows in Germany and abroad bring together many German firms and their international business partners Even in this age of ever greater digitisation trade shows remain an indispensible forum a forum for companies to build new contacts and step up existing ones A forum for presenting ideas and innovations and for advertising products This applies to young self employed people and large established companies alike The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has developed a number of different instruments to support trade shows Under the Federal Government s Foreign Trade Fair Programme German companies of all sizes representing any industry anywhere in Germany and regardless of whether they are members of a business association have an opportunity to showcase themselves at a joint Made in Germany stand at an international trade show More than 90 of the companies benefitting from this opportunity are small and medium sized companies This year in 2018 there will be joint German stands organised under the Foreign Trade Fair Programme at around 260 trade shows abroad In addition to this there is also the Energy Export Initiative which supports companies representing this impor tant specialist sector as they venture onto foreign markets Participation in foreign trade fairs helps boost the uptake of German energy technologies abroad The young innovative companies programme gives start up entrepreneurs an opportunity to participate in leading international trade shows in Germany at lower prices The programme is targeted at start ups from the industrial sector the skilled crafts and technology driven services This year it is expected to cover 64 trade shows The Federal Government can rely on trusted cooperation with its partners from industry This particularly applies to the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry The Trade Fairs International magazine also has a very important role to play For more than 20 years now it has been delivering full and well informed news about international trade shows and exhibitions May the next 20 years and beyond be just as successful Message of Greeting from the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier for the 20th anniversary issue of Trade Fairs International
