S tretched to its capacity during peak sea sons HKCEC has to focus its marketing initiatives on the less popular months There is still some growth potential there which was recently put to good use Seven of eight new exhibitions in fiscal 2016 2017 were held in non peak months says Monica Lee Müller managing director of the operating company HML As an incentive for organisers there are corresponding dis count programmes at the HKCEC Exhibitions scheduled in February July August and De cember get 25 per cent off and those taking place in May and June still get 23 per cent off the regular price New trade fairs with an es tablished international reputation can qualify for a 45 per cent discount on standard rental rates for the first two years HKCEC s efforts focus on attracting or ganisers of art and auction events and tech nology exhibitions The targeted marketing strategy has proven to be effective argues Monica Lee Müller And she cites several ex amples China Guardian held its auctions at the HKCEC for the first time she reports This was done alongside Sotheby s Autumn Auctions as well as Fine Art Asia art and an tiques show And new technology exhibitions have also been contracted for Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre In May for example Cloud Expo took place at the centre at Victoria Harbour One month later it hosted Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit GIES showcasing technologi cal intervention related to the elderly To pro vide a safe and comfortable environment to the target groups in the HKCEC various fa cilities have been modernised and upgraded Among other things the wifi is constantly being updated and there are LED high bay lights to enhance energy efficiency These investments serve to help meet the highest international service standards in competition and to secure the title of Asia s Best New software was also developed for the HKCEC A digital graphic program en ables event managers to draw hall and up date plans for their customers In addition Alipay was introduced this April on a trial basis as a new payment platform Alipay provides an additional efficient payment op tion to visitors describes Monica Lee Müller especially those from Mainland China In the same month a so called Table Management System TMS was imple mented in all restaurants It is capable of recording customer preference information for evaluation and planning purposes A cus tomer feedback system was also developed for HKCEC In fiscal 2016 2017 there were 401 constructive feedbacks All were consid ered seriously After the evaluation 188 ac tions were already taken or planned to im prove customer services facilities and inter nal process This truly pays off In the last fiscal year HKCEC picked up numerous awards including the Award for Best Inter national Convention and Exhibition Centre www hkcec com PB 80 TradeFairs Internation al 3 2017 INTERNATIONAL HONG KONG Enhancing the experience Full house in peak seasons when capacities at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre HKCEC are maxed out So the focus has to shift Rise ein Ereignis rund um Technologie und Start ups findet im weniger frequentierten Juli im HKCEC statt Rise a technology and start up show takes place at the HKCEC in the non peak month of July Ph ot o H KC EC Ri se
