Messe Stuttgart Sustainability Report Position at July 2017 7 pflichtet sustainability code of the event industry was signed in 2012 together with the Baden Württemberg WIN Charter on Sustainable Management in 2016 With the declared aim of becoming the most sustaina ble trade fair venue in Europe the topic of sustaina bility will now be examined and promoted even more intensively Since Messe Stuttgart does not want to indulge in any so called green washing i e an exaggeratedly euphemistic description of its sustainability activities potential improvements will also be shown in a trans parent form Sustainability is not a static moment for Messe Stuttgart but a dynamic development This document is therefore intended as a perpetuating report which will be continuously updated in future This Sustainability Report therefore contains a broad overview of the sustainability activities and objectives of Messe Stuttgart For this purpose the Report shows the current position the objectives and the measures to be implemented to attain these objectives in rela tion to the different areas In keeping with the tenth anniversary of the new trade fair centre the actual si tuation will therefore be presented and the course for the future development of Messe Stuttgart will be set According to the current understanding of the con cept of sustainability i e the so called three pillar model sustainability and sustainable development are based on ecological economic and social aspects The focal point of this Report will be the ecological dimension Economic and social dimensions will be concisely summarised in the final section and explained in depth as part of the WIN Charter Report to be published at the end of 2017 Messe Stuttgart s commitment towards sustainability is also reflected in its external image with greenery covering more than 50 per cent of its total area it is regarded as the greenest trade fair centre in Europe
